Our Tear-Out & Replacement Process

We do not pour over old concrete. Every driveway we build starts with a complete removal of the existing slab. Here is exactly what happens during the project.

Sawcut & Break-Out

We sawcut the perimeter and any sections that border your garage floor, sidewalk, or porch. Then we break the old slab into manageable pieces using hydraulic equipment.

Load, Haul & Dispose

A typical double-car driveway produces 10 to 15 tons of broken concrete. We load it out and haul it to a recycling facility the same day.

Grade the Subbase

We grade the exposed soil and add 4 to 6 inches of compacted gravel. This drainage layer prevents water from pooling under the new slab and reduces freeze-thaw heaving.

Set Forms & Reinforce

We set lumber forms to the correct pitch so water drains away from your garage. Inside the forms, we place steel reinforcement (rebar or fiber mesh) for crack resistance.

Pour, Finish & Cure

We pour the concrete, screed it level, and apply your chosen finish. After finishing, the slab needs 7 to 10 days of curing before vehicle traffic.
